I think Randy Travis was singing about the mural in Cotton Square in Downtown Lufkin. The painting of Angelina's flowing dark locks has changed colors, and the toll of time is evident.
The owner of this downtown building next to Cotton Square Park has begun repairs to its facade. It is all a part of the Downtown Lufkin Renovation Project.
The mural depicting early life in Lufkin has seen better days. The wall that features the deteriorated mural is now undergoing maintenance.
Downtown Lufkin Murals Were Never Meant To Last Forever
As the crews remove the loose and flaking plaster, they take a part of Lufkin's past with it. They are doing it to make way for an even better future.
Workers are taking steps to install a new mural at the location. The initiative is just another step in the plan to revitalize Cotton Square Park and make it a beautiful space we can all be proud of.
