Shifted Oversized Load Causing Delays on Highway 59

Late this morning (1/4/17), TxDOT officials reported that a tractor-trailer rig had its oversized load shift while in transit on Highway 59 North between Lufkin and Nacogdoches. 

Since that time, one lane of northbound traffic on Highway 59 is open near that location (near the old rest stop/weigh station) south of Woodland Hills Golf Club.  A crane will be necessary to readjust the load back onto the vehicle.  During that process, both northbound lanes will be shut down and the southbound lanes of Highway 59 will be used for both directions of traffic.

Authorities are urging patience with these delays that are expected to continue until at least 3 p.m. today.  Motorists may want to consider alternate routes.
