I have been getting glimmers of information from various facebook groups in our area that people were getting robbed almost daily. Someone has been preying on local residents all summer long.  I was starting to think that someone was door handle checking every car in town, every night. Anyone that left a car outside that wasn't locked tight, was getting hit. Now there is a name to match surveillance videos.

Sergeant A. Noel - Angelina County Sheriffs Office

On 09/05/2019 at approximately 12:48 pm, Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office observed the suspect vehicle in numerous recent burglaries in Angelina County traveling on Hwy 69N. Deputies followed the vehicle for a short time and as Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle failed to stop and evaded. Deputies followed the vehicle into the High Pointe

Apartment complex on Loop 287 where the vehicle traveled to the rear of the complex before coming to a stop. The driver, a suspect in the recent vehicle burglaries, identified as Taurus Roberson, 25, exited the vehicle and began evading on foot towards Loop 287.

Deputies gave chase and lost sight of Roberson when Roberson ran behind the Pepsi Bottling Facility and into the dense woods. While Roberson was evading Deputies on foot, he dropped a handgun near an apartment building that was found by a concerned citizen.

A check of the serial number showed that the firearm was stolen during a recent vehicle burglary that occurred in Angelina County on 09/04/2019. An inventory of Roberson’s vehicle showed numerous items that are possibly stolen as well.

Deputies have filed multiple warrants for Robison’s arrest including Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle, a Felony of the 3rd Degree, Evading Arrest or Detention, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Theft of a Firearm, a State Jail Felony.Multiple other charges are expected to be filed in the coming days regarding the burglaries that have occurred.

Hopefully he will be caught soon, or kept running till he was out of town. Someone knows this suspect and should turn him in to authorities. Back in June this same person walked into a local emergency room saying he was shot in the chest. His story might have been false, and he could have been shot stealing from a local resident.
