Do you know where to get "pastured" "grass fed" and "nitrate free" food in Lufkin? I didn't and I am still learning so I thought I would try to put a little of what I have learned out there.

I have started a journey of healthy eating lately. I know that trying to do something all at once, is a bit hard, so I have eased into it. I thought I was doing the right thing, eating lean meat, nuts, vegetables and a few fruits, but now I have gone even further down the worm hole. Living in East Texas, where it seems we would be closer to the farm, wasn't really helping.  We get our food here, just like everywhere else, at the super market.

So I did some asking around, and I am working on getting some of this information in one central place, so we can find these more "organic" type of foods here.  Problem is with eating healthy, these type of food are usually twice as much, and hard to find. So far, excluding ordering off the internet, I know where to get some local stuff.  I thought I would share some of that, and some of my failures.

1.Organic Store - Had a long conversation with Linda today at this place. I am convinced I will find 100% percent of what I am looking for here, and I am really surprised we have a place like this.  Took me a lot of digging to find this one.  Your welcome - Like them on Facebook.

2. Some people around town have farm raised/free range chicken eggs for sale, around 4$ a dozen. I would love to start a list, if you know someone.

3. When I mentioned it, I have hearsay from a co-worker that they have "organic" chicken at Wal-Mart, but I have yet to lay eyes on it myself.

4. Morning Glory Health Foods had a location in Lufkin. They don't have a website, and I tried to dial the number, and it's been disconnected.

So that is what I have off the top of my head, if you are eating wild in East Texas, I would love to hear what you have found!
