Making an informed decision about where to eat out in Angelina County, Texas isn't always easy. Luckily the Angelina County and Cities Health District makes their rounds and ensures all the restaurants meet or exceed health code standards.

These reports aren't always pretty, but there were plenty of establishments that received no demerits in this latest round of reports. They were mostly schools.

33 restaurants and kitchens across Lufkin, Hudson, Huntington, and Diboll were inspected from September 16th - October 28, 2024. Three of the establishments were forced to close until they could be brought into compliance.

Panda Express In Lufkin Gets Zero Demerits

The only restaurant on the list that received zero violations was Panda Express on South First Street In Lufkin. They were visited on November 4, 2024 and were given a full inspection.

Taco Casa on Timberland Drive in Lufkin got very close, with only 4 violations. Three restaurants in our area were temporarily closed after their inspections.

Churches Chicken In Lufkin Given 10 Day Closure

Churches Chicken on Timberland was closed for 10 days after their inspection on November 5, 2024 for a roach and possible rat infestation. The facility has had ongoing issues with roaches for the past three visits.

The Diboll Depot, officially known as ETM 660, is a convenience store and pizza restaurant at 1605 North Temple Drive (HWY 59). They received 43 violations and were also closed due to a rat and roach problem.

The Donut Palace In Huntington was closed for similar reasons. Rodent droppings were observed in the paper towel dispenser. There were no records for pest control at the time of the inspection.
