I really look forward to the Nacogdoches Police Department's Pet of the Week posts. I don't know about you, but I think it's pretty cool to see these posts come across my Facebook newsfeed every week.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, let me break it down for you.

Every week, a Nacogdoches police officer goes out to the Humane Society of Nacogdoches County animal shelter and selects a pet to feature on the NPD Facebook page, in order to help that pet get adopted. That pet is the NPD Sponsored Pet of the Week.

As you can see, Genevieve has only been at the shelter since the beginning of this month, but she's still in need of a forever family.

If she sounds like the animal you've been looking for, you can stop by and meet her at the shelter. Remember, if you are approved to adopt the Pet of the Week, you'll receive a voucher to local vet clinics that will cover spay/neuter fees, and rabies vaccinations.

The Humane Society of Nacgodoches County animal shelter is located at 3211 NW Stallings Drive, and adotion times are from noon to 6 PM.
