Diboll Policeman Injured in Shooting While Taking Suspect to Jail
At the request of the Diboll Police Department, the Texas Rangers (DPS) are assisting with the investigation of an officer-involved shooting which occurred on Monday, October 25, in Diboll.
The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 11:50 officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the area of Maynard Street. A suspect was placed under arrest during that investigation. While he was being transported to the Angelina County Jail, he pulled a concealed firearm and opened fire on the officer. The officer returned fire. Both the officer and suspect suffered gunshot wounds.
The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Hayward Douglas of Lufkin. Douglas was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night shortly before 9 p.m. The shooting has left one man in critical condition who remains in ICU.
A 911 call was received by the Nacogdoches County Combined Dispatch at 8:41 p.m., the caller sounded in distress but did not give much details of what had happened. A deputy with NCSO found the victim in his pickup truck on County Road 823, a short distance from FM 343. EMS and fire responded to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital. He was later transferred to another hospital in the East Texas area.
Deputies conducted a search of the area and found the shooting took place near Lone Star Church on County Road 823. Detectives with NCSO and the Texas Rangers responded to the scene and processed the crime scene.
The victim has been identified as Breydi Gonzales, 20, from Center, Texas. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. The motive for the shooting still remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
