Hilton Gets Approval To Build New Hotel In Lufkin, Texas

In what I believe was a big win for Lufkin, the City Council has now granted the final approval for a new hotel to go up in town. Hilton Hotels is gearing up to build a four-story Home2 Suites by Hilton next to Buffalo Wild Wings.
I was fairly certain that this was going to pass quickly, but it took less than a month to get the ball rolling. This surpassed my thoughts on how long it would take to get the approvals needed.
The project will now move forward on the approved site between Cinemark and Lowe's right behind Eye Mart and Chicken Express. This is the 3000 block of South Medford Drive, part of Loop 287 in Lufkin.
A New Hotel On The Loop In Lufkin
According to the Lufkin Daily News, the Lufkin City Council approved the permit at their first meeting this month. This was a quick approval process, and after a few other small hurdles construction can start on the site soon.
This won't be the only construction going on in the area, as there has been ongoing work to get the new Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. They are hoping to be open by late June or July of this year.
That area of town has been experiencing huge growth over the past 20 years. Now that they are getting further in the process of turning HWY 59 into Interstate 69 things are really going fast in Lufkin.
I am seeing a positive trend, and so many new businesses opening up in Lufkin. It makes you proud of your home town.
