Does Lufkin, Texas Need Yet Another Burger Restaurant?
You would think that with local icons like Mom's Diner and Ray's Drive-In that national chains would think twice before coming to Lufkin with their burger restaurants.
Just like Chipotle didn't make it here, in my opinion because of the quality and prices found at Skyline Burrito Bowl, Five Guys closed because of the aforementioned burger joints and their reasonable prices.
Now according to the Lufkin Daily News Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburger is coming to town. There is no word on a location or any kind of timeline yet, but they are opening 57 new locations in Texas with one of these being in Lufkin.
Where Is Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Going To Be In Lufkin?
With so many questions still unanswered about Freddy's, I thought we would start with what we do know. I have friends that love the place, but they mostly talk about the custard and not the other food.
They have a lot more than burgers, and custard is first in their name so that makes sense. There is a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburger fairly close to us in Tyler and Huntsville if you wanted to get a sneak peek.
Many Deep East Texas residents make it a point to go to Freddy's when they are out of town and are looking forward to having a location closer to home.
Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Is Coming To Lufkin, Texas
Some of them mentioned that the prices are a little high, and Freddy's original double combo meal is $9.99. If you wanted to try their Limited Time Red Hot & Bleu Steakburger Combo with a large onion ring and a large drink it gets up to $12.89.
That was when I tried to order online at a Dallas location. When I tried to order online in Decatur, Georgia everything was a dollar less, so our local prices may vary.
Looking at Yelp reviews from Houston locations it seems like people either love it or hate it, like most things.
Having more options in a small town is always a good thing, and I can't wait to see Freddy's come to town.
