Beloved Chinese Restaurant In Lufkin Receives 37 Violations
If you wonder who ensures all our area restaurants are clean and up to code, that is the Angelina County and Cities Health District's responsibility. According to the Lufkin Daily News, a Lufkin favorite was closed down a few months ago, and now we know why.
The Angelina County and Cities Heath District released another round of health inspections. They conducted these assessments two months ago, so hopefully any violations found have since been corrected.
Only four eating establishments were inspected from May 13 - 15, 2024. The reports are made to keep the public safe and to determine the cleanliness of the restaurant, not the taste of the food.
Hunan's In Lufkin Closed Due To Suspected Rodent Infestation
Health inspectors visited Hunan's, located at 1108 North Timberland Drive in Lufkin, Texas on May 14, 2024, and found 37 violations. There were issues as simple as hand washing and as complicated as rodent infestation.
The report outlines issues with multiple pieces of equipment in the restaurant not working properly. All three rice cookers were in poor repair and would not hold the rice to the proper temperatures.
The ice cream dipper well was not running, and the water had a white tint. The scoop was removed and the container was cleaned.
A fly was seen on a to-go container, dead roaches were found under and behind equipment, and rodent droppings were on the shelves in the dry storage. These were among the reasons a closure was issued.
