The Longest Interstate In Texas Is Almost 900 Miles
If you have spent any time in Texas, at some point you might have traveled on one of the many interstate highway systems. There are 16 interstate highways in Texas.
There are also three other new interstates, like I-69 that will run from Indiana through East Texas to the Mexican border. There is also the I-14 system that when completed could be over 1,000 miles long and include parts of I-20, I-35, I-45 and other highways.
Interstates connect states to other states. It's right there in the name, but one is currently the winner when it comes to driving across Texas.
This Interstate Can Take You All The Way Across Texas
Miles and miles of Texas unfurl in front of you when you enter I-10 in Anthony, Texas. It's just the start of the journey and follows the Rio Grande with the river to the West and the Franklin Mountains to the east.
The first major bit of traffic you will encounter is in El Paso. Once you leave there, you'll encounter 500 miles of the most desolate terrain you have ever driven across.

When you arrive in San Antonio you are in the thick of things. Just 197 miles later you are in Houston, and then Beaumont out to Louisiana.
I-10 Has One Final Quirk To Reveal In Texas
I-10 will take you all the way from the dry deserts of El Paso to the bayou in Orange. According to AARoads after you make the 880-mile journey across Texas you can take Exit 880 Sabine River Turnaround just before the Louisianan State Line and do it all over again.
