When I stepped on the scale this morning, I was quite surprised and learned what a few things can do to me throughout a weekend of what seemed to be nonstop eating!I'm probably going to make quite a few people mad with this next statement, so here goes -- I'm losing weight without really ever trying to or going on a special diet. Over the past eight months or so I've must made a few changes and cut a few things out and the weight has come off.

I've stopped drinking my two favorite drinks -- Barq's Root Beer and Dr Pepper -- both of which are my favorite soft drinks. Along with dropping soft drinks from my diet, I've also cut out the sweets.

This is a big deal for me (and a hard one too) because I am such a sweetoholic. It was common for me to have several types of sugary candy in my desk at any point in time, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Reese's Pieces, Red Hots, LemonHeads, etc.

But that has all been removed and dropping those two things out of my diet has helped me lose more than 20 pounds! I've replaced the soft drinks with water and unsweet tea and the sweets with granola bars and nuts. It seems to have worked for me and I feel I was doing great with it after realizing I was losing weight, but that was until I got on the scale this morning!

Something happened over the last three days that has wrecked a lot of that work I've been doing, and all of a sudden I'm not happy! But, at the same time I can see what happened and can identify some of the causes.

It appeared as if I was constantly eating with friends this weekend! Not that that's a bad thing, but its what I was consuming that did it -- frozen yogurt, Snickers, tortillas, chips, dips, cookies and the like. All the things that I gave up all of a sudden tasted really good and I guess I missed them, but I also feel like I've fallen off the wagon (but I was never really on one, but I guess I was!).

So, after seeing the results of what one weekend can do, it's kind of scared me and all of that stuff that was tempting that was in the house has all of a sudden found its way to the trash can!

At the same time I'm writing this, I can't believe I'm saying it because those things were such a big part of my life. I know without a doubt I can return to my new ways and get back on track.
