Downtown Lufkin Getting New Claw Machine Arcade
If you have been wondering when the family-friendly global craze of claw machines was coming to Lufkin, now is that time. According to the Lufkin Daily News, the Lufkin City Council approved a special use permit for the arcade to operate downtown.
Mayor Mark Hicks recused himself from the vote because the owner is one of his downtown tenants. Kingdom Claw will be owned and operated by Skyline Burrito Bowl Owner Tavo Velazquez.

The building is downtown, just next door to Rubie & Jaine Formal Wear. It will be in the back of a building they are sharing with Besos Boutique, where Sew Junkies used to be. This is right next to the brick hall that takes you to the Abrams Downtown venue.
When Are We Getting Claw Machine Games In Lufkin?
This approval certainly puts us closer to the opening date, but nothing has been formally announced. The goal, according to Velazquez, is to enhance the downtown experience in Lufkin with games, giving people a reason to stay downtown for hours at a time.
There will be 28 claw machines in the arcade located at 105 Cotton Square. More family-friendly fun in downtown Lufkin sounds like a great idea to me.

It might be the one missing element that finally ties it all together to make downtown Lufkin a destination. The streets aren't getting any newer, since all of the recent work is now complete, so I don't see an excuse not to go out and enjoy it.
