According to Trinity County Media via Facebook, Lydise Izquierdo, 42, of Diboll has passed away. The mother of 5 died after a fatal wreck on FM 1818 west of Huntington.

Izquierdo was driving a 2006 Ford pickup south around 1:14 AM on FM 1818 with passenger Justina Gee, 22, of Huntington at the time of the crash. At some point, her vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch, and hit a tree.

Izquierdo was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Cheshire. Gee was transported to St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for non-life-threatening injuries.

Truck Left Road For Unknown Reasons And Struck Tree

Texas Department of Public Safety could not find any immediate reason why Izquierdo's vehicle left the roadway, and the investigation continues. This road has a disturbing history of recent fatalities.

According to The Lufkin Daily News on December 27, 2024 a Zavalla woman died from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of HWY 69 at FM 1818.

Lesley Sallas Wade, 24, was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Health Memorial-Lufkin. Her two passengers a 6-year-old boy and girl were also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Head On Collision On FM 1818 Claims Life Of Diboll Man And 13-Year-Old Boy

On October 28, 2024 Joe Smith Jr. of Diboll and an unnamed boy traveled east on 1818 at 8 AM in heavy fog. Passing a vehicle in the fog led to the head-on crash 3 miles east of FM 58.
