If you drive down Timberland Drive in Lufkin or North Street in Nacogdoches we have a few gaps. Businesses that were once thriving are now completely closed.

A few big-name chain businesses and restaurants that were in the area for decades decided 2024 was the end of the road. There were also a lot of local mom-and-pop establishments that didn't make it to see 2025.

We spend part of our lives in these places, and now all we have are the memories. Some of these closures really hurt.

Lufkin and Nacogdoches Businesses That Locked Their Doors For The Last Time

Many of these businesses can point to one thing that caused them to call it quits. Inflation has led to paper-thin margins in a variety of different fields.

When everything costs more than what the market can support, you know the writing is on the wall. Food, merchandise, labor, gas - you name it, all went up since the pandemic.

These closures don't only affect us personally, they also impact our local economy. These businesses represented a ton of tax revenue for our counties.

Gone But Not Forgotten In Lufkin and Nac

No matter why they closed or how long they were here, they will all be remembered and missed. We have a close connection to the businesses in our area.
