No more conjecture about what new restaurant or business is going into the old Cafe Del Rio building on First Street in Lufkin, Texas. Today the building has been completely torn down.

There were a lot of fond memories in that building, home to the Lufkin favorite for over 20 years. The restaurant had outgrown the space and is now located on the loop at the corner of State Highway 69 South and Loop 287 next to the Angelina County Farmers Market.

The new building has been in operation for over 8 years. An entire new generation of Del Rio customers likely don't even remember the old location.

Not One Business Ever Went In At The Old Del Rio

In the 8 years the building has been vacant, not one business has been housed inside. This is like a long goodbye to an old friend.

Now we can finally close the chapter on what is going to happen to the building. This is some prime real estate, and someone will likely buy the property or put something new there very soon.

All of the other businesses around the area seem to be doing well, and it never seemed that the location was that big of a factor. Though it is hard to see things change, I am optimistic about the future of the location.
