Lake Sam Rayburn Closures Extended
If you have been to Lake Sam Rayburn lately, you might have noticed that many of the recreation areas around the lake have been closed. The Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Sam Rayburn Lake, announced extended closures on May 6, 2025.

They cited the reason as issues from Hurricane Beryl. For the second summer, the 2024 storm is the same answer they are giving for not opening the swimming areas.
Shirley Creek Marina and RV Park just got their swimming area roped off this past weekend, if you were looking for an alternate place to jump in.
According to KTRE, there will be additional closures elsewhere due to rain.
High Water Continues To Close Sam Rayburn Amenities
There have been plenty of reports of citizens just swimming in the lake anyway. High water is dangerous and is the reason they have been closing parks, campgrounds, boat ramps, and access roads around the Sam Rayburn Reservoir.

Once the lake level decreases, they will be able to clean up and maintain all of the facilities and make them safe for public use again. These closures have already been extended through Independence Day weekend.
