
Texas Law Enforcement Officer Sentenced in Sexual Assault Case
Throughout his career with area law enforcement, Terry Lynn Fountain, 56, of Center, Texas, worked all over Angelina County. According to the Lufkin Daily News, he had worked for the San Augustine Police Department from 2001-2002, the Angelina County Sheriff's Office 2006 - 2014, the Corrigan Police Department in 2015, and the Sabine County Sheriff's Office in 2016.
The bulk of his time recently was working for the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office from 2017 to 2023 and previously from 2002 - 2006. His most recent tenure with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office is what has landed him in trouble.

The former Angelina County law enforcement officer was working as a deputy for them when he coerced a confidential informant to commit sexual acts. He had an agreement with her to have charges dropped for a crime she committed in Sabine County.
Woman Files Charges Against Fountain In Sabine County
The female informant would later press sexual assault charges against Fountain. He pleaded guilty to all four counts of the second-degree felony.

The lawsuit also named the county and San Augustine County Sheriff Robert Cartwright. Fountain has now been sentenced to 10 years of deferred adjudication probation.
In the lawsuit, the woman claimed that the county and the Sheriff were aware of Fountain's actions and failed to intervene. She also accused the county of having a history of corrupt law enforcement and failing to properly train or supervise officers.
