The Loblolly Railroad is set to hit the tracks this Saturday for its maiden voyage in Nacogdoches, Texas. As in years past, Veterans are being honored at the sneak peek.

This Veterans Day on Saturday, November 11th, Nacogdoches Historic Sites are welcoming you to the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot for the Loblolly Model Train Display for a Veterans Day open house.

This year the focus will be on military trains that represent the types of gear that were used on the tracks to support the war effort locally during WWII. Many men left town for the last time from the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot.

The exhibit is free to the public and will be open Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Model Train Display Is A Representation Of Nacogdoches

This is much more than just a model train for children and adults alike to enjoy. It is an amazing educational experience.

A lot of love, care, and thought went into making this display. It's not just some model trains on a board. Every piece and part has been hand-placed, and in some cases customized, to reflect Nacogdoches in the past and the present.

There will be more opportunities to see the trains later this month and in December. If you would like to get more information about the Loblolly Model Train Display, visit nactx.us/historicsites or give them a call at 936-560-4441.

There are lots of events like this one in Nacogdoches leading up to the holiday season, including the Lighted Nacogdoches Nine Flags Festival Parade.
