Fireworks Planned As Lufkin, Texas School Bands Honor America

If you are driving around the loop in Lufkin on Saturday, November 4, 2023 and see a large fireworks display at Abe Martin Stadium, don't be surprised. It's Honor America Night and all the Lufkin School Bands will be there.

Band kids in 6th - 12th grade will perform a tribute to America, our veterans, and active military. Performances include the recently awarded 5A/6A UIL State Champion Lufkin High School Band.

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, the UIL State Competition was held in Waco, Texas at John Eddie Williams Field on the Baylor Campus. The Lufkin High School Band competed and won the top honor against military bands across the state.

Here were the bands that they competed against and won.

• Cleveland
• Crosby
• Ennis
• Hallsville
• Humble Atascocita
• Humble Kingwood
• Huntsville
• Longview
• Nacogdoches
• Whitehouse

That is some stiff competition. Congratulations the all of the students, parents, and faculty who made this very successful UIL trip possible.

Celebrate The State Champion Lufkin High School Band At Honor America Night

Join all the Lufkin School Bands at Honor America night at Abe Martin Stadium for a special performance and tribute to America on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 7 PM. Gates will open at 6 PM.

Looking ahead at the forecast for that day, you really can't beat sunny and 70 with a low of 50. It will be a good excuse to wear that old band letter jacket to the stadium.

Tickets are $5 for everyone ages 3 and up. Find a Lufkin School Band member to get your tickets in advance. You can also get tickets at the LHS band office or at the gate.

The performance will end with a magnificent fireworks finale. Watch the Lufkin High School Marching Band's winning performance in the UIL finials below to get a taste of the amazing precision you will experience at the show.
