Looking at the Applebee's Corporate facebook page and website you would think that our local Lufkin location would be open by now in some capacity. Driving by the location today I saw cars at Olive Garden, Chili's, and Cheddar's. I saw a line of cars wrapped around the Chick-Fil-A drive-thru complete with servers wearing masks. A true sign of the times.

The closed sign remains in the window at our local Lufkin Applebee's, and the few cars there were likely employees from businesses in the area. As Applebee's restaurants in other states tout their ability to do take out and curb side orders, ours is shuttered. Applebee's corporate is having a meeting next week about plans for some of the restaurants that are still shuttered from the shutdown.

The sign reads as follows. "We apologize for the inconvenience. Due to the decline of business at this location as a result of current events, this restaurant is temporarily closed. We look forward to serving you again soon."

The lack of information on our local restaurants situation makes me think that, like Logan's, this might have been an under performing market for them. They might have taken the opportunity to cut their losses. Much like our Logan's location down the loop from them, there could be no plans to re-open.

If you have local closing and opening information about local businesses or stores you can always just let us know right from the app. Lufkin is all about some great food, and the Covid-19 epidemic is messing with a few of our favorite spots to eat. Help them get the word out, and we can share it here with everyone. Working together to keep us well fed, I appreciate all of our restaurant workers.
