I don't know about you, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there will not be a Texas Blueberry Festival in Downtown Nacogdoches this year. It's been going on - nonstop - for as long as I can remember.

However, there are several different "blueberry-related" events going on, even if we can't have the actual, full festival. One of those events, I heard about today, actually. So, if you know the Blueberry Festival, then you're probably pretty familiar with the Blueberry 5K. It's the 5K (DUH.) that they have every year. Participants can choose to either run or walk it.

Well, this year, they decided to keep the 5K going. Only this time, it's going to be a virtual run/walk.

Here's how it works:

Starting tomorrow, you can register to run or walk a 5K ANYTIME during the month of June. It doesn't matter where you do this 5K. You can be in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, whatever. If you participate, you'll get a t-shirt, a "virtual goodie bag", and a printable runner's bib and certificate. Also, if you register a dog to run/walk with you, they'll receive a special bandana and a certificate, too.

All proceeds will benefit Dog Park Nacogdoches.

No, this won't be the same as the traditional Blueberry 5K, but I still think it's cool that they're keeping the tradition going strong. If you're looking for more information, and the online registration, you can click the link below:
