Felony Arrests In Angelina County July 21 – 27
This was another big week for arrests in the Angelina County Jail. The Angelina County DPS was putting up big numbers again, and the Lufkin Police Department ended a standoff peacefully.
It's not every day that the Lufkin SWAT Team gets a call. It's not even every month, but in the heat of the summer, people get a short fuse in Lufkin, and they have been deployed twice in as many weeks in town.
The prospect of being out in the sun wearing all black when it is almost 100 and steamy is not for the weak. All in a day's work for local law enforcement.
Lufkin Police Arrest Man After Three-Hour Standoff
Lufkin Police responded to a domestic disturbance call that ended in a SWAT team pulling 20-year-old Francisco Farfan from an apartment. Family members told police that Farfan was threatening to shoot himself.
Officers deployed gas canisters in an attempt to get Farfan to come out of the residence. Once an hour had passed without much progress, that is when they called in the SWAT team.

Officers then used the SWAT truck to push the door open, and Farfan pushed the door back into the closed position. SWAT then used a less-than-lethal 40-millimeter foam baton round.

Three hours later, the standoff ended at the apartment on Montrose.
