Felony Arrests In Angelina County April 28 – May 4

Steven Dewayne Odom, 56, is back behind bars in the Angelina County Jail for a parole violation. According to Chron.com on Monday, May 28, 2001, he lived in southwest Houston.

While living there, he was charged with murder. He stabbed his aunt's fiancé to death.

Police said that he killed Elliot Scott Garret, 31, at about 3:45 PM at the apartment that they shared in the 4400 block of Boone Road.

The victim's fiancé, Odom's Aunt, also lived in the same apartment. Their verbal altercation turned into a physical fight between the two men.

The fight didn't end in any serious injury, but Odom was still upset and chased the victim, brandishing a kitchen knife. That is when police say that Odom fatally stabbed Garrett after he flipped and fell.

Bad Past Decisions Lead To Current Issues In Angelina County

Odom then locked himself in the apartment, but later surrendered when Houston police negotiators arrived on the scene.
