Obstruction or Retaliation Charges Deals With Special Circumstances

Obstruction or Retaliation is a third-degree felony charge in Texas that can land you in prison for up to 2 - 10 years and a maximum fine of $10,000. The Texas Penal Code describes it as "a person commits an offense if the person intentionally or knowingly harms or threatens to harm another by an unlawful act".

Just a threat can land you in felony territory because the code goes on to describe "another" in the following ways:

• Person that reported your crime

It goes on to outline other uses for the charge:
