
Over 50 Crowd Dominates Nacogdoches Arrests
If current arrest ages are any indication, people who commit crimes are getting older. Social media and the internet have given an entire generation a glimpse into their future if they are arrested.

Now more than ever, the younger generation is keenly aware that there are consequences to their actions. It's all right there on their phone to see every day.
That, among other factors, has led to fewer young people in prison and jail than in the past. Don't worry, the 50 and up crowd is keeping the jails full.
More Than Half Of Those Arrested In Nacogdoches County This Week Were Over 50
You would think that with age comes wisdom, but this week, 9 out of 14 people arrested between June 28th and July 4th in Nacogdoches County are still in jail.
Either these older men are less likely to have the funds to get out of jail, or they could be more likely to commit a crime. At 71, you might be thinking of retirement, but that is the age of the oldest person arrested last week and still in the Nacogdoches County Jail.

According to a 2020 report from the Texas House of Representatives, the elderly population in U.S. prisons increased by almost 280 percent between 1999 and 2016.
Going to Jail Is Only In Favor For Certain Age Groups
There are a lot of men and women over 50 incarcerated in Texas now. This leads to higher health care costs for inmates.
