Felony Arrests In Angelina County June 2 – 8

There are some familiar faces inside the Angelina County Jail in Lufkin, Texas, today. There are almost 250 current inmates inside, and for many of them, it is not the first time.

James Trevor Broomfield, 27, is back behind bars for Sexual Assault of a Child. In 2017, according to KTRE, Broomfield was wanted on a child sex crime charge.

He was arrested in Chandler, according to the Lufkin Police Department. Then a clean-shaven 19-year-old, he was wanted for felony sexual assault of a child involving a 13-year-old girl.

He was the subject of a Crime Stoppers request to locate at the time, and they used the tips from the hotline to help find him. He is now back behind bars, with similar or the same charges.

Woman Accused Of Exposing Her Babies To Meth Back Behind Bars

Amber Cherie Whitworth, 36, is back behind bars for family violence after her previous 2012 incident when she was 23. She was arrested back then for a felony child endangerment charge after her two 9-month-old infants tested positive for meth.

At the time she was released on a $20,000 bond, and after a lengthy court proceeding, was convicted. This all started on September 1, 2012, when Angelina County Sheriff deputies responded to a disturbance call at 788 Johnny Grimes Road.

Officers arrived and found Whitworth holding her infant child while appearing to be intoxicated and upset. She admitted getting into an argument with her then 41-year-old boyfriend, Rickey Shane Boykin.

Child Protective Services was notified, and her children were placed with a grandparent. A CPS worker ordered a hair drug test done on Whitworth and the two babies, and all three tested positive.
