Get ready to take your kid's costume on a maiden voyage at the wildest place in Lufkin. The Zoo Boo is coming back to Ellen Trout Zoo.

This is the biggest kids' event every year for Halloween in the Lufkin area. Not only is there a ton of candy, but there are also amazing animals to see during hours that the zoo is normally closed.

The Zoo Boo for 2023 will be at the Ellen Trout Zoo on Friday, October 20, 2023 and Saturday, October 21 from 6 pm - 8 pm. The Zoo is on North Loop 287 at 402 Zoo Circle in Lufkin, Texas.

If you have ever thought about being a part of FOETZ (Friends Of Ellen Trout Zoo) and have someone to convince, this is a great one to mention. Getting into the Zoo with your entire family on both nights for free for FOETZ members.

Even if you are not a member, paying regular zoo admission is quite the bargain considering all the candy and special events during the Zoo Boo.

The Best Part Of Zoo Boo Is The Costume Contest

I personally enjoy the costume contest the most. Kids get to compete in two age categories 0-4 and 5-10.

They will be competing for prizes in four categories for each age division.

• Cute
• Funny
• Scary

The judges not only look at the costume, they also look for a bit of a performance. Kids who really become their characters have a great chance of winning.
