Police Arrest Lufkin Man For Arson And Aggravated Assault

Later that day Lufkin Police arrested another man for allegedly trying to set someone ablaze. Greg Anthony Rodriguez Sr. 44 of Lufkin was taken into custody after his attempt to set another man on fire.

Before 9 PM officers responded to Ridge Street where the complainant told them that he went outside to check on his barking dogs. He identified the source of the barking as an unknown, Hispanic male setting fire to an old cabinet, sink, and doghouse.

Later dispatch notified officers that a van matching the suspect vehicle had just wrecked on Lufkin Avenue near the Loop 287 intersection. Officers arrived and took him into custody with no further incident.

Rodriguez has been arrested in Angelina County 16 times. The charges range from assault/family violence, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, burglary of a habitation, and criminal mischief.

He is now in the Angelina County Jail on a $200K bond as of 5 PM Thursday.
