Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office Makes Huge Meth Bust Sunday
A Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office Deputy patrolled the 8000 block of U.S. 59 North and noticed a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan traveling in the northbound lane on Sunday, March 3, 2024. According to the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, the driver was tailgating another vehicle.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop to give a warning to the driver about following too closely. He intended to advise about proper following distances when in traffic to avoid accidents.
Conflicting Stories By Couple Lead To Major Drug Bust In Nacogdoches County
While interviewing the driver and passenger the deputy got conflicting stories about the couple's trip from Memphis to Houston. He then asked the vehicle's driver for consent to search, and it was given.
During the search, the deputy found a grocery bag with snacks and a cardboard plastic bag box stuffed with 2.26 lbs of methamphetamine stored in a gallon bag.

The passenger in the vehicle, Timothy D. Moore, 43, of Memphis, Tennesee claimed ownership of the methamphetamine. Moore was then taken into custody and the driver was released at the scene.

He was booked on a first-degree felony of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Under the Texas penal code, a first-degree felony is punishable by 5 to 99 years of incarceration and a fine of not more than $10,000.
