The Nacogdoches Police Department has released the name of the person who passed away early this morning as a result of a drive by shooting that took place near Brooks Quinn Jones Elementary School.  Kashena Keggler, 38, was pronounced deceased at a local hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident happened early Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of Dolph Street.  Two other persons were injured in the drive-by shooting and taken to area hospitals.  No update has been given on their identities nor their conditions.

In early August, Nacogdoches Police responded to a shooting in the same area of Dolph Street.  That incident also claimed the life of an individual.  Several murder arrests were made in connection with that shooting.  Those arrests happened in Angelina County near FM 2021 in Redland. There have been no updates concerning ties with the August shooting and with Tuesday morning's shooting.  Police officials in both Nacogdoches and Angelina Counties in past releases have noted that gang activity between Lufkin based and Nacogdoches based gangs has increased as of late.
