Arrests this week in Angelina County landed a convicted sex offender back behind bars. According to KTRE in February of 2016, Philip Jordan Malone, 28, of Huntington, was accused of having a nude image of a teenage girl.

He was indicted for third-degree possession of child pornography after being on the run since October 2015. Then, in March of 2017, it was discovered he had requested a bench trial. He was convicted of the possession charge by Judge Paul White in April of 2021, and sentenced to 10 years' probation.

He was then labeled a moderate risk by the Texas Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Registry. The wheels of justice turn slowly, and were just slow enough for Malone to get new charges in January 2022.

During the bench trial, Judge White must have found out there were more victims of this offender. An affidavit associated with the trial shows a 10-year-old boy was the victim.

According to The Lufkin Daily News article, Judge White said in an arrest affidavit that Malone stated he performed sexual acts with kids because it was easier to keep them quiet about the assaults. Malone was eventually arrested and then bailed out of jail.
