Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County Aug 24 – 30

There are currently 301 inmates in the Nacogdoches County Jail. 19 of them are pretrial Class A and B Misdemeanor offenders.

Of the 9 arrests during this timeframe, only 3 were for crimes that weren't drug-related. One of the felony charges is for possession of less than a gram of meth.

Giving a homeless person on drugs a felony charge, when in reality they need assistance with housing and addiction could be viewed by some as a failure in the system. Others see that they are now housed and aren't using drugs (hopefully), while in jail.

• Indecency with a Child/Sexual Contact
• Failure To Register As A Sex Offender
• Assault/Family/Household Impede Breath/Circulation (strangulation)

Regardless of the charges or degrees, these 9 offenders below committed felonies and are innocent until proven guilty.
