Angelina County Felony Offenders Dec 18th – 24th, 2024

From December 18th to December 24th, 2024 there were 15 felony arrests in Angelina County. This is down from last week's 16.

New Felony Offenders With Past Convictions

When you read about a 21-year-old being arrested for a felony you might assume that this was the first time they had a run-in with the law. That was not the case with one of these felons arrested before Christmas.

Christopher Dewayne McGowan was arrested for an assault causing bodily injury to a member of his family with a previous conviction. I was assuming when looking for any prior newsworthy crimes, that I would find more felony family violence, but that was not the case.

According to the Lufkin Daily News in 2022 McGowan, just 19 at the time, was arrested for throwing out contraband during a police chase. He was arrested along with four men from Crockett.

Chase That Involved Spike Strips Ended At Walgreens On Frank In Lufkin

On Friday, September 16, 2022, around 11:55 PM the Lufkin Police Department responded to a report of a fight near Moore Avenue. When the officer attempted to make the stop, the vehicle driver drove away.

They led officers on a chase all around downtown Lufkin and ended at the Walgreens on West Frank. At one point they even used spike strips to try and end the pursuit.
