
19 Felony Arrests In Angelina County Feb 12 – 18
The Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Zavalla PD, Lufkin Police, and DPS Angelina County all contributed to the 19 felony arrests during the week of February 12th - 18th, 2025.
Law enforcement has been cracking down on drugs and organized crime in the Angelina County Area. One Lufkin resident with felony drug charges has a bond set at over $2 million.

The Zavalla Police Department had a late-night Monday. According to the Lufkin Daily News Alex Lane Cheney, 19, was arrested after a shooting.
Zavalla Man In Angelina County Jail After Shooting
Close to midnight on the 300 block of Bryan Street in Zavalla, Texas, Cheney allegedly shot Michael Kyle Tucker, 22. Tucker was transported to St.Luke's Health Memorial for a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound.

He was later transferred to a Houston area hospital to try to remove the bullet still lodged in his body. According to Zavalla Police Department Chief Robert Denby, three men and a woman in a truck drove to Tucker's house after a previous confrontation.

"They went back and they shot the guy," Denby said. He also mentioned that the shooting was drug-related. There were two handguns recovered at the scene and warrants have been issued for the other 3 occupants of the truck.

This is the perfect example of why law enforcement works so hard to keep drug dealers off the streets. Unsatisfied customers are hard to deal with in a controlled retail setting, without illegal transactions and drug usage added to the mix.
