Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County July 13 – July 19
There are currently 312 people in the Nacogdoches County Jail. In that number are 21 pretrial Class A and Class B Misdemeanor offenders.
There are 221 Pretrial Felons (192 Male, 29 Female) and 23 pretrial state jail felons. There is also an "other" category where 40 men and 7 women fall.
So far in 2024, they have booked 1,013 men and 351 women into the jail. They also released 1,024 men and 356 women, so the number of people in jail stays fairly constant between releases and bookings.
Man And Woman Arrested On Charges Of Crimes Against Children
There were 16 people arrested from July 13 - 19, 2024—at least three if not more (some are unclear) committed offenses against children.
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested Johnathan Ray Birdwell, 44 of Cushing, on 5 second-degree felony counts of Sexual Assault of a Child and 5 first-degree felony counts of trafficking a child to engage in sexual conduct.
The collective bond on these 10 total felony charges is set at $625,000.
Woman Arrested On Charges Of Child Endangerment
Nacogdoches resident Alanna Nicole Casto, 36, was arrested on charges of intentional abandonment/endangering a child, a State Jail felony. They also charged her with injury to a child with intentional bodily injury, a third-degree felony.
Timothy Mathis, 39 of Nacogdoches, was arrested for possession of less than a gram of a penalty group 1 drug and child pornography. Both of these charges are third-degree felonies.
