27 Felony Arrests In Angelina County Feb 5 – 11

The Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Zavalla PD, Adult Probation, Lufkin Police, DPS Angelina County, and Diboll Police together made 27 felony arrests for the week of February 5th - 11th, 2025.

This was the most arrests I can recently recall happening during a week in Angelina County. Saying that our local law enforcement has been hitting the streets is an understatement.

There were many felony crimes that we rarely see like arson, and ones that we sadly see a lot, like sexual assault of a child. Many of the inmates have prior local arrests.

Lufkin Man Convicted In Injury Of A Child With Drugs Case

According to The Lufkin Daily News Clifton Paul Sturgeon Jr., 41, was arrested in April of 2019 for injuring and endangering a child with drugs. The Angelina County Sheriff's Office began the investigation in February 2019, when CPS was contacted about possible abuse.

The boys' teacher had noticed injuries the prior month and the child explained them away by saying he had fallen off his bike. The teacher persisted, took photos of the injuries, and made a call to CPS.

The boy recounted his story during a Harolds House interview saying that Sturgeon hit him hard, knocking the wind out of him. Various other relatives corroborated the child's story.

Boy Tests Positive For Meth After Abuse In Lufkin

Sturgeon was drug tested and came up positive for meth. They then tested the boy, and he also tested positive. Sturgeon has now been placed back behind bars after the judgment where he was convicted of a third-degree felony.
