Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County March 15 – 21

If you are arrested in Nacogdoches County as an adult, you go to the Nacogdoches County Jail. You will be held there with 304 other citizens in various stages of coming and going.

There were 12 felony arrests this past week, but there were some especially heinous crimes committed by one current inmate who is only 17 years old.

Hernan Cuarenta, 17 of Nacogdoches, is behind bars tonight on multiple charges.  Thursday, he allegedly shot a man dead in someone's front yard.

Two Shots Rang Out In Nacogdoches On North Popp Street

According to KTRE the victim was identified as Gerber Danilo Panteleon-Palencia, 33, of Nashville, TN. Information provided to them from the Nacogdoches Police Department did not detail any motive for the crime.

Panteleon-Palencia was visiting family in the North Popp Street area when neighbors started calling authorities about hearing gunshots. When officers arrived, they found Panteleon-Palencia in the front yard with two bullet wounds.

He would later succumb to his injuries, and the suspect, Hernan Cuarenta, is now in jail for first-degree murder, up from the earlier charge of aggravated assault.

Other Charges For Cuarenta From Nacogdoches PD

The earlier charge of aggravated assault with a weapon is still showing up, along with a charge of theft of a firearm. That would likely mean that the weapon used in the shooting was stolen.

Also among the felony arrests below, Jeramiah Matthews, 18, wanted for over a month, has been captured for engaging in criminal activity and aggravated robbery.
