Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County June 22 – 28
There are currently 313 people in the Nacogdoches County Jail. Most of them are pretrial felons, who are innocent until proven guilty.
This week there were 11 people arrested with felony charges. In Nacogdoches County, many people seem to think they can escape justice.
Not appearing in court while out on bail is a bad idea. You could get more charges, and your original case could be upgraded.
One Charge Stands Out From The Rest
Most of the felons were arrested for drug charges. Some with large amounts of controlled substances, and one that even tried to get it into the jail facility.
One charge stood out from the rest of the pack. Jonathan Wiley, 41, of Cushing, Texas was arrested by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
According to the Nacogdoches County Jail inmate search he was arrested for Indecency With A Child By Sexual Contact. This is a second-degree felony punishable by 2 - 20 years in jail.
He was also charged with online solicitation of a minor. That is a third-degree felony punishable by 2 - 10 years in jail.
Excessive Bond Or Flight Risk?
The Nacogdoches Sheriff's Office uses many factors to decide on an amount to set for bond. Wiley has a total bond of $300,000.
To get a bail bondsman to get him out of jail he would have to come up with around $30,000. That is a large sum, and he will likely be in jail until his hearing.
